There are a variety of situations in which artists and artworkers are asked to stipulate payments for either their goods or services. In Australia visual artists and craftspeople are rarely covered by wage-setting instruments such as awards because they are not generally classified as employees.
NAVA has developed a series of ‘benchmark’ minimum fees that artists or artworkers can use when negotiating fees and wages or when determining a labour component for a grant application, setting an exhibition loan fee or tendering for a project.
