Providing Access to your Collection

Owners of works of art and craft usually allow access for the purposes of study and documentation (ensuring that the artist's copyright and moral rights are observed). Owners may also agree to loan works to responsible institutions.

Most publicly funded galleries will provide a loan agreement when they request a loan. In addition, the Arts Law Centre of Australia sells a draft agreement Loan of an Artwork for Public Exhibition, which can be used to check the terms being offered, and/or negotiate different terms. The Centre can also review loan agreements for comprehensiveness and equity.
