NAVA does big work with modest resources. This work is assisted by generous donors, often with small but cumulatively significant contributions. The funds are used either to support specific projects like the artist grant schemes managed by NAVA, or as a general contribution to NAVA’s important work on behalf of the Australian visual arts sector.

These financial contributions find application in real world outcomes. Looking over NAVA’s history there is a record of significant policy and legislative change, which aids the growth and development of the Australian visual arts and craft sector. Some of these achievements include taxation reform for artists, an increase of $39 million in government funding over 2004 – 7 resulting from the Myer Inquiry, the establishment of Viscopy the visual arts copyright collection agency, introduction of moral rights legislation, proposed changes to Sedition law affecting artists’ freedom of artistic expression, the Code of Practice for the Australian Visual Arts and Craft Sector and much more.
